I have not posted in 19 days, a record for me since I started this blog.
No, I am not quitting. The title isn’t about ending blogging. It’s about ending my stopping of blogging, which makes it more like “Everything that has an end has another beginning,” or rather, if you combine the two, “Everything that has a beginning has an end to which it has another beginning.”
I’m sure there is a more elegant way to say that, but at the time that is good enough for me.
While we’re at it, let us take a look at the title quote, a peculiar saying from the third Matrix movie. It is already an enigmatic movie in terms of philosophy, and the fact that this statement is uttered by someone known as the Oracle does not seem to make it any clearer.
Say there is some activity X. If X has a beginning, then according to the Oracle, it must have an end. But what if we make a new activity, Y, and say that Y is “not doing X”? Then according the rule, if Y has a beginning, it must have an end. This logically implies that if X has an end, it must have another beginning.
So if you accept that everything that has a beginning has an end, you are also accepting that everything that has an end has another beginning. Interesting, isn’t it?
