The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E. B. White is a wonderful grammar and style handbook for writers. It is, in fact, the handbook. After reading this—and it is very concise—I realized that my view of writing as well as my writing was forever changed from the more choppy, structured, formulaic writing that school has taught me. Granted, I went through much of this book online well before starting this blog, but only recently did I obtain a hard copy and read it thoroughly.
In honor of the book’s conciseness—a motto is “Omit Needless Words”—I have decided to avoid further elaboration. Any serious, or casual, writer should be at least aware of this book.
Agreed.
See, I’m already omitting those needless words. Great book.
